About the CYC Dinghy Section 
Welcome to the Chichester Yacht Club Dinghy Section

Chichester Yacht Club is an all year round members' Club renowned for its friendly, informal atmosphere. The Clubhouse has a restaurant & bar together with excellent facilities for all the family.

The Dinghy Section is a friendly and relaxed section. A wide range of mono-hull dinghies up to about 6m are sailed at Chichester Yacht Club, and members are always keen to help new members get out on the water and provide friendly advice and tips!

There are also Yacht & Motor Sections.

Chichester Yacht Club is an RYA Championship Club, and is fully committed to the RYA Racing Charter





Dinghy Racing is organised for club members most weekends from mid March to late October. Racing is organised into Race Series over several weekends, with two or three races a day. Racing is either in Handicap or Class Fleets. All classes of dinghy sailed in the club are welcome to join in the racing.

Open Meetings are held throughout the year for a number of classes, such as Merlin Rocket, Laser, Solo, 2000, Topper & Optimist. There is also a Chichester Yacht Club Regatta.

Dinghy Week is an annual Open Event in July/August incorporating relaxed racing, with 2 races a day, coaching and training, casual sailing and a fun social scene. All sailors are welcome, particularly families and juniors.

Winter Series: Frozen Toe runs through November and December and Snowflake from January to early March. These popular Open Events regularly attract over 80 boats, and are normally every other Sunday from November to March.




Sailing Instruction: CYC is a RYA Recognised Training Centre and there are regular formal courses for beginners and improvers, both adults and juniors, available to members & non members.

Dinghy Coaching: Regular courses and sessions are organised for club members, both adults and juniors. CYC has a small fleet of boats available for hire by club members: Optibats, Toppers, Fevas, Lasers and 2000.

Race management training: CYC also offers RYA courses for club race officer training. The club has a number of fully trained rules mediators.

Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship: Training and club competition is run for members aged 8-16 for this annual national challenge.

Dinghy Cruising: CYC is well placed for leisure sailing in the beautiful Chichester Harbour, and members regularly make trips to local villages and beaches. The Club is open on weekdays as well as at weekends and all facilities are available to cruising club members.
